The Obstetrics Service at the Abano Terme Polyclinic is, aside from utilizing traditional methods, constantly  searching to conduct labor and childbirth in a natural way by respecting physiology but also the mother-to-be's requirements. The ward guarantees the most comfortable environment imaginable for the patient and also boasts a new outpatient room for pregnancy pathologies. Even the delivery rooms, which are located next to the operating room in case an emergency Cesarean section is needed, have been recently renovated and renewed. They come equipped with a jacuzzi-whirlpool and comfortable seating arrangements to allow the mother the possibility of giving birth in the most comfortable position possible.

In addition to the standard hospital rooms used in accordance with the Italian National Health System, the ward can also make private rooms available for giving birth and for scheduled surgeries.

The specific outpatient services available for various pathologies are:
• Benign pathology clinic (ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, menstrual dysfunction diseases)
• Colposcopy clinic (diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the cervix)
• Urology- Gynecology clinic (urinary incontinence, prolapse, urodynamic testing)
• Gynecologic oncology clinic
• Obstetric and gynecologic pelvic ultrasound (sonography) clinic
• General gynecology clinic

The Abano Terme General Hospital, in collaboration with Health Unit 16 of Padua, has determined that the Obstetrics Ward is the only center within the ULSS system which is capable of guaranteeing 24-hour anaesthesiological assistance using peridurals. This ensures a painless childbirth at any hour of the day.

It is possible to give birth, not only in accordance with the Italian National Health System, but also by private payment. The latter option gives the patient the possibility to choose their accommodation during their stay, whether it be single room or double utilized as a personal one.The department ensures the mother-to-be some birth preparation courses, psychoprophylaxis, gymnastics/aerobics, and water aerobics/swimming.

A monitoring service is provided in the outpatient department. The birth takes place in privacy under the assistance and care of an obstetrician for every patient. Moreover, it is also possible to request to give birth in water.
