The Patient's Rights and Duties

Every patient at the Abano Terme General Hospital has the right:

  • To be treated and assisted in a continuous and appropriate way thanks to the latest scientific knowledge and technological advancements available.
  • To have their dignity and personal convictions respected at all times regardless of age, sex, race, language, social status, religion, or political views.
  • To receive the necessary information to actively participate in the diagnosis and treatment process. Information regarding actual health condition, the potential benefits and risks from the different proposed treatments, and any possible alternatives, must be given to the patient. In addition, the patient also has the right to be made aware of any potential consequences from the total or partial refusal of the proposed treatments (for which they then assume full responsibility), or on any alternative treatments. Before surgical operations, anaesthesia, invasive procedures, exams with contrast, blood and blood product derivative transfusions, withdrawals for HIV testing, and participating in clinical trials patients must give their informed consent.
  • To prohibit the release of information regarding their hospitalization and any information regarding their health status to people other than those indicated.
  • To receive an appropriate valuation and managment of their pain.
  • To express their opinion using the forms made available (i.e. service questionnaire) or in person at the Public Relations office whenever they feel their rights have been infringed upon.
